Teen Liturgies – All Families are Welcome!

 

With the addition of our new weekly 6pm Sunday liturgy, all of our grade 7, 8 and HS Religious Education classes will be integrated around this mass along with our Youth Passion Play.  These liturgies will be designed specifically for our teens and are open to all our SJN families.   One group of either 8th grade or HS students will serve as Ministers of Hospitality and Lectors during each mass.  All liturgies will be from 6-7pm on Sunday evenings, so please come and join us!!

Grade K-6 At-Home Program

 

Our At-Home program for grades K-6 is for parents who prefer to do their faith formation instruction with their children at home.  We have three At-Home Family Sessions that are integrated with our 6pm parish liturgy on Sunday evenings (September, December & March).  These liturgies will be followed by faith enrichment and social time in the hall for our parents and children that are not in our classroom program to help them also build community.   In addition, we have two children’s services offered during lent on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday that all our families are encouraged to participate in where possible.

Total Youth Ministry Program

JOURNEY TOWARD CONFIRMATION & BEYOND

 

This program involves our junior high and high school students in the total life of our parish community by preparing them for not only the sacrament of Confirmation but their continuing faith journey beyond as our future adults of the Church. The Diocese of Manchester requires two years of education and a sacrament preparation program prior to receiving a sacrament (specific preparation listed on the prior page). 

 

Discipleship 7 Program (Grade 7 Students)

Education and Confirmation Preparation:

·         *Sunday night classes twice a month (all with Teen Liturgy)

·         Attendance at our Youth Passion Play

·         Monday night Move UP day in April (for Service presentation & Grade 8 Discussion)

Community Building and Service to Others:

·         1 in-class organized Service Commitment to be done sometime during the year

·         Attendance at other SJN activities encouraged

Mass Attendance:

·         Encouraged with integrated Teen Liturgies

Note: Catholic school students are not required but encouraged to participate when possible.

 

 

Discipleship 8 Program (Grade 8 Students)

Education and Confirmation Preparation:

·         *6 Scheduled Classes (6 with Teen Liturgy and one make up in spring)

·         1 Scheduled parent/student retreat as a class

Community Building and Service to Others:

·         4 Faith Commitments to be done throughout the year

o        Service (Crop Walk, Blood Drive, SJN Food Pantry, FAST, etc.)

o        Community Building (Parish Cookout, Rockingham Mall Shopping, Canobie Lake, etc.)

Mass Participation:

·         Participation in 1 Youth Mass with their group (Lector, Hospitality, Music, Altar Server or Cross Bearer) at one of the Teen Liturgies

Note: Catholic school students are exempt from classes but are expected to complete the other pre-requisites and are encouraged to attend the Teen Liturgies.

 

 

HS Discipleship Program (Grade 9, 10 & 11 Students)

Education and Confirmation Preparation:

·         *6 Scheduled classes (6 with Teen Liturgy and one make up in spring) or a 4-day summer option

·         1 Retreat experience

Community Building and Service to Others:

·         7 Faith Commitments will be done throughout the year

o        4 Service (Crop Walk, Blood Drive, Rockingham Mall Shopping, SJN Food Pantry, FAST, etc.)

o        3 Community Building (Parish Cookout, Ogunquit Maine, Movie Nights, Canobie Lake, etc.)

Mass Participation:

·         Participation in 1 Youth Mass with their group (Lector, Hospitality, Music or Altar Server) at one of the Teen Liturgies or at an additional Youth Mass which will be on select weekends

Note: Catholic school students participate in all these activities but only need to attend 2 Sunday night classes.

*Parents’ Note:  Mass is a set part of the Sunday night class time for all grades 7th through high school.  Mass is from 6pm-7pm and we strongly encourage parents to attend mass with their child to help us maintain reverence.  For community & service activity info please check our Monthly Youth news at www.sjnrcc.org.  Thank you!
