A Respite Care Program for Adults with Alzheimer's Disease or Dementia

Taking care of an elderly parent or relative is a responsibility many families assume as a matter of love and family loyalty. The need to "take care of our own" is strong, but 24-hour care, particularly for an elderly person who cannot be left alone safely for any length of time, can produce unhealthy stress for the caregiver.

We know your burden is heavy and we can share the yoke to lighten your load. Our arms are open to your loved ones. We are here for them and for you. Take this opportunity to go out and do something for yourself, and return refreshed and ready for your loved one.

For each participant there is at least 1 volunteer to assist him or her through the day.

A registered nurse is on duty throughout the day just in case.

In October 2002, The Day Away program celebrated its 10th anniversary.
