What is Day Away?

Day Away provides a day of respite for the caregiver who cares for family members with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia's. We are a social day care program. We are not a licensed medical program, nor are we a personal care program. We are not a drop in center.

Where does Day Away meet?

Day Away is held on Thursdays from 9 am - 3pm at St. John Neumann Church, Rte 101A, Merrimack, NH

What is the cost?

The fee is $15 per day and includes a boxed lunch, snacks, and a craft project.

How does one apply to participate in the program?

Contact Kathy Hopkins, RN at St. John Neumann's parish office at 603-880-4689. There is currently a waiting list for participants. All participants will be required to undergo an intake assessment by the Day Away staff.

Who takes care of our loved ones?

Day Away has trained volunteers who are called to this ministry. They are men and women who willingly devote their time and talents to your loved one.

Who does Day Away serve?

Our ministry is two-fold:

To provide a gentle, safe and loving environment for people afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease or dementia's who:

walk without assistance
can participate in a social setting
use the bathroom without assistance
live at home with caregivers
To provide a support group to families/caregivers every 3rd Thursday at 1:30pm.
